One Year of Empowering Users: Celebrating Microsoft Copilot’s Impact

Microsoft 365 Copilot was released on March 18, 2024, and it has changed how I work!

Microsoft Copilot has indeed revolutionized the way I worked over the past year. It’s amazing how much it can help streamline tasks and boost productivity. From organizing and researching topics to automating repetitive tasks, Copilot has become my go-to tool in the Microsoft 365 applications. In a recent Microsoft study (more information below) it has shown that power users who are utilizing Copilot can save up to 30 minutes a day.

Copilot Chat is the first place I go as I start my workday. Copilot Chat is the one window where you can catch up on what you missed from your coworkers, prioritize your emails, and focus on the most important tasks for the day. Copilot Chat will search across all of the company resources (email, calendar, Teams chats, and files) and then Copilot Chat brings back all of the relevant data that you are authorized to see.  This is a game changer when you are preparing for a meeting or trying to check on a project status.

Behind the monitor is a horizontal stripe that is blue and magenta gradient; the image is gray on the top and bottom. But Copilot Chat is not the only place to leverage Copilot. For instance, when faced with a blank email, Copilot can assist in drafting the content, making it easier to get started. In Excel, it can help me write those complex functions like VLOOKUP, ensuring you get the correct results without having to remember the exact formula. And in PowerPoint, it can provide suggestions on how to structure your presentation, making the process less daunting. I especially like to leverage Copilot Chat.

Every day now, I am saying, “Let’s Copilot It.”

Research Shows

In the 2024 Work Trend Index Annual Report  a recent Microsoft and LinkedIn survey highlights how Power Users are using AI and the impact that AI is having on their work. The survey finds:

“Power users are familiar to extremely familiar with AI, using it at work at least several times a week and saving more than 30 minutes a day. And it’s paying off: power users say AI makes their overwhelming workload more manageable (92%), boosts their creativity (92%), and helps them focus on the most important work (93%)—and it helps them feel more motivated (91%) and enjoy work more (91%).”
